The Life Cycle of Chickens
Over the past 4 weeks the children have been learning about the life cycle of chickens. The children learnt about the importance of the incubator for the eggs and used a candler light to see if the eggs were eating eggs or if they might hatch a chick. On the 25th June our first egg hatched. Since then, 4 more eggs hatched and we have been looking after Puffy, Unicorn Glitter, Sally, Gina and Chicken Licken in our classroom. They have had lots of cuddles from the children and adults! The chicks are nearly ready to move to their forever homes.

Butterfly Release
The children have been learning about the life cycle of butterflies. We transferred the larvae into pots and watched them grow into caterpillars. The children were able to observe the caterpillars climb to the top of the pots and form their chrysalis (cocoon). This week we were able to release the butterflies that had emerged.

Forest School
The children have learnt lots of new skills at forest school. They started by playing a game where they had to role play different forest animals before working in small groups to put up a tent. The children then used pine cones and clay to make their own hedgehogs. Whilst waiting for the fire to be lit, children went on scavenger hunt to find different natural materials to make a nature crown. Once the fire was lit the children toasted marshmallows.
