Welcome Sessions
Monday 4th September
Today we had our first group of children visit Reception. They had a busy morning exploring their new classroom and stayed for a yummy lunch with their grown ups. Here's a few photographs of what they have been up to this morning.
Tuesday 5th September
It was lovely to meet the 2nd group of new starters. Here's a few photos to show what they have been busy with this morning.
Wednesday 6th September
Another busy morning meeting our 3rd group of children starting in Reception.
Thursday 7th September
Our 4th group of children came to visit Reception today with their grown ups. We had lots of excited faces when they were told Thursday is pizza day!
Friday 8th September
Today we met our final group of children who are starting with us in Reception. We are looking forward to getting to know all the children better over the next academic year.
Our First Day in Reception!
Today the children all had the opportunity to share their 'All About Me' bags. It was lovely to learn a bit more about them.

Listening Walk 1
Friday 8th September
Today the children in RS used the listening ears that they had cut out on their listening walk. We named what we could hear and had a go at making the sounds with our voices. The children all had the opportunity to take pictures of the where the sounds were coming from using the Ipods.
The children heard music, voices, birds, cars, footsteps, leaves rustling, the breeze blowing through the trees, bubbles in the fish tank and many more other sounds!

Our 2nd group of children had their first day in Reception today which can only mean 1 thing ... we had more 'All About Me' bags to share! We have enjoyed learning about our new friends in RS.

Listening Walk 2
Thursday 21st September
Today the 2nd group of children in RS used the listening ears that they had cut out on their listening walk. We named what we could hear and had a go at making the sounds with our voices. The children heard drums, voices, the playtime bell, whiting machines, a hedge strimmer, doors and cars on the road!

Colour Monster
wc Monday 25th September 2023
This week RS having been looking at the story Colour Monster by Anna Llenas. We used the story and the Zones of Regulation to discuss different feelings, how we can stay in the green zone and what we can do to help other people. We even had a go at pulling different facial expressions!

Phase 1 Phonics - Silly Soup
Wednesday 27th September
The children learnt a new game called 'Silly Soup' during their phonics lesson. They then worked in small groups to decide whether the object they had picked started with either a 's' sound or an 'a' sound.
Literacy
Develop their phonological awareness, so that they can:
• spot and suggest rhymes
• count or clap syllables in a word
• recognise words with the same initial sound, such as money and mother
Phonics
Monday 16th October
Reception have been learning the /s/ phoneme today. As a class we made a list of words that start with /s/. We then had a go at writing /s/ on stickers!
Literacy
- Read individual letters by saying the sounds for them.
- Write some letters accurately.
