Summer Term

Summer Term
Welcome back! I can't believe that it is Summer Term already, this year is going far too fast. This term is going to be super busy, so many exciting things to look forwards to!
Trip to Rodley Nature Reserve!
What a way to start our new term. On Tuesday the 18th April we went on a trip to Rodley Nature Reserve. It was such a wonderful experience, definitely my favourite trip of the year! Not only that it was sunny too! The children had a wonderful time, creating sticky boards, pond dipping, bird watching and finding out about bees! A great way to start off our learning about plants!
We all wore orange and donated £1 to raise awareness of childhood cancer.

LO- to find a quarter of a number
The children have been learning about preparing food safely and hygenically. Michelle came from the kitchen to talk to us about how we can use kitchen equipment safely. We learned about how germs spread by using glitter to represent the germs.
Bean Plants (Science)- the beans have now been growing for three weeks. We have given them all of the things that plants need to be able to grow. The plants have had light, water, soil and space. Look at our wonderful bean plants now! It is now time to take them home and plant them in our gardens.
English- This week our focus is 'The Winter's Tale by William Shakespeare. It is a very tricky text and we have been learning about the characters. Today we made the most of the sunshine and went to make shadow characters! The bear is our favourite!
Wow, it has been so hot today but that is a great day for learning about summer. We went to find signs of summer outside and made clay tiles to display the leaves and flowers we found.
Best Day Ever!
Today it was our inflatable fun day! We had an amazing time, half an hour flew by!
DT- to plan and make a kite (textiles)
In DT we have been learning about using different materials to make different items. We designed a kite. The children had a go at making their own kites independently.
