Autumn Term

Fun in the sun!

What a lovely first week 2G have had in the sunshine!
They have had endless amounts of playtimes and lunchtimes enjoying the school field and they have enjoyed seeing all their friends after a long summer. There has been lots of catching up and giggles around school this week!
What a great start to the new academic year!
English
LO: To visualise part of a story

2G were tested on their listening skills whilst learning all about Flat Stanley. In the second chapter, children had to listen really carefully to the story and close their eyes and visualise the image in their heads. They were asked to think really carefully about the words and draw what they imagined the picture would look like. Great comprehension this week 2G- well done!
Maths
LO: To know and understand place value (Tens and ones)

The children enjoyed working practically today in maths and learnt all about the value of 2 digit numbers. They looked at how many tens were in a number and how many ones. They made different amounts and were superstars when explaining their thoughts.
PSHE
LO: To understand and be able to describe different emotions

During class discussion, we thought carefully about different types of emotions and how they might look on a person. The children then played charades and created some brilliant expressions!
PE - Gymnastics
LO: To use rolls, jumps and balances to create a sequence

2G really enjoyed their PE lesson with Mr Brigg today! The children carefully carried their mats and placed them on the floor in a safe way - what great team work! They recapped lots of jumps, balances and rolls and worked in small groups to create a sequence.
Science - Living Things
LO: To make comparisons about human growth.

We have been lucky enough to have some special visitors in school today! We had ad 2 year old, 4 year old and a 11 months old. We asked the children and their grown ups questions about what they could do. We then compared what the children could do.
Maths
LO: To flexibly partition 2 digit numbers

The children enjoyed working practically and found different ways to partitioning numbers. They worked super hard and did not give up!
English
LO: To use the joining word 'and'

The children enjoyed their learning today all about the joining word 'and'. We used the example of a sandwich to help them understand the concept of connecting 2 sentences together.  We had lots of fun sharing our senescent with our partner.
