Summer Term

In PSHE, 6N discussed social media accounts and the legal age to have one. Then we investigated the reasons why people may not tell the whole truth - only posting the good bits about their lives on social media and the reasons for this. We acknowledged that most people lead a more balanced life in real life when compared to what we see on social media.
Maths in 6N: understanding fractions, decimals, percentages, ratio and proportion...and of course...working collaboratively!
Geography in 6N: using maps and atlases to identify environmental regions, countries, and major cities of North and South America.

PSHE in 6N: We have been learning very important life skills. We discussed the choices you need to make when you have money.

  • When to spend money and when to save? What are the pros and cons for saving money?

  • Also, we brainstormed factors that determine the price of an item.

English: In English, 6N are reading the novel ‘Journey to the River Sea’, set in the Amazon. Our main character - Maia - is faced with a tricky dilemma, which the children have been discussing. They looked at the pros and cons for the choices she might make; it turns out that 6N are experts at EMPATHY!

In PSHE, we were able to explain how to live in an environmentally sustainable way, and what we can do to be more environmentally sustainable.
In 6N, we discussed the power of giving compliments and then celebrated one another’s brilliance with lots of them!
The first rule in business is to stay within your budget.  6N worked with great enthusisam to design their own fairground with a budget of £500,000.  Go Team Blakehill!
Year 6 had a fabulous session with Jaxon - dramatising the Shakespearean tragedy, Hamlet! The children performed brilliantly, showing great enthusiasm.
6N English - acting out the scene where Hamlet meet the Ghost of his father
In DT, 6N made Viking coil pots.  We were impressed with the way they adapted their plans as they made them.
