PE: LO: To know how to run.

Continuing our Athletics unit in PE, today we explored how to improve our running technique.
Maths: Measuring length

In today's lesson the children used tape measures to measure and compare the heights of the other children in class. We then discussed what we found out and extending our learning by comparing heights to foot size.
Computing: Animation

In today's lesson the children have created their own animation using templates.
Science: To know why things move

In our first science lesson of our new unit, we explored the concept of 'forces' and how things move with a push or a pull. We then attempted to make a car move by using an elastic band catapult.
Science: Forces

The children were working with Mrs. Hall today exploring the game French Boules on different surfaces. The children discussed the forces being used and the effect these forces had when playing on grass, tarmac and soil.
Science: Forces

We followed on from the lesson above by making our own game of French Boules but this time using different surfaces including plastic and carpet. We then wrote up our science experiment in our book.
English: Deconstructing an instruction text

Today in English, Year 3 deconstructed an instruction text, exploring how this text type is structured.
Design Technology: Moving Monsters

Moving Monsters have invaded Year 3S! The children have researched, designed, planned and built their own Moving Monsters using a wide variety of materials. The children have then evaluated their creations.
Science: Magnets

Continuing our science unit exploring magnets, Year 3S have learnt how to move objects using the power of magnetism!
History: Ancient Egyptians Trip

3S visited Leeds City Museum this week to learn all about the Ancient Egyptians!
Science: Understanding how one part of the body can affect another.

In today's Science lesson, the children undertook an investigation comparing hand size and how many cubes they could collect.
Sports Day

It is that time of year again - Sports Day! We are all really proud of everything the children achieved.
Art: Dinosaur Eyes

In today's Art lesson the children have made their very own dinosaur eyes using clay!
English: Ordering the text

3S have ordered our new text 'Pebble in my Pocket', working out which part comes first and which part comes after that.
Reading: Identifying the key information

The children have been really excited this week reading their new guided reading text all about Earthquakes and Volcanoes.
Mathematics: Telling the time

We have struggled with this unit in Mathematics; however, we have been resilient and kept going. Today we worked in pairs using clocks and other resources to help us tell the time.
English: Describing an Earthquake

The children had a really exciting English lesson today using Oreo biscuits (yes, Oreo biscuits!) to recreate what happens when two plates collide into each other creating an Earthquake. The children then described what this would feel like.
