LO- To add by counting on within 20
Today we had great fun counting on and back from 0-20. We practically added numbers together to find a total and played snakes and ladders with our friends.

RE- today we talked about special books and what morals and lessons are learned from them. Then we wrote wishes for our wish tree.

LO- Today we explored near doubles using numicon
Art
LO- to explore different types of line
In art we completed our drawing unit by showing different types of line. We experimented with different media and type of line.

LO- to identify and use the primary colours
We began our painting unit of work in art. We have experimented with water colour paints and learned to mix new colours using the three primary colours.
We loved our dancing workshop led by Punjabi Roots! So much fun!
Skipton Castle
To support our history topic work we went on a school trip to Skipton Castle. 
RE- LO - Understand why saying thank you is important.
 
In RE the children discussed how we might say thank you to some one. Children passed around a ball of wool/string and made a web of thanks. Each time someone received the ball they needed to think of something to thank the previous person for, e.g. thank you for being kind. 
They they wrote an acrostic poem together using the letters of the word thank you, pupils needed to think of things they would like to say thank you for e.g. teacher, holidays, others etc.
PSHE
LO- To recognise how a persons behaviour can effect other people
English
This week we looked at punctuation and read some sentences. We had to choose a full stop, exclamation mark or a question mark for the end of each sentence. 
LO- to use a full stop, exclamation mark and question mark correctly

LO- To plan and build a castle (structures)
We have had a lot of fun designing and building castles.

LO- To compare length
LO- To measure length
 
We have had so much fun exploring measuring in 1D. We measured each other using cubes, pencils, hands and bricks. We all had a go at measuring our own feet using beads, lego, lids, cubes and blocks. 
Number Day
We had lots of fun today celebrating number day. 
RE
LO- to know about places of worship
We walked to the local church to learn about Christian places of worship.
 
Maths
LO- to use a number line to 50
We played a number game, children raced against the clock and each other to sequence their team from the smallest to the largest number. 
SCARF
We wore our scarves to school to support Children's Mental Health week.

Science
LO-To identify and name a variety of common animals, including fish, amphibians, reptiles and birds and mammals. 
Today we talked about sorting animals into different categories. We talked about how we could decide which category each animal belonged to. The children worked together to sort animals. 
In English we are learning about the story, The Owl who was Afraid of the Dark. We had some owls to visit us and we all had the chance to get close to the owls. We saw them fly and had a chance to ask lots of questions. 
World Book Day
We celebrated World Book Day in Year One. We talked about our favourite books and made book jackets to tempt other people to have a go at reading our favourites. 
We went on a spring walk to look for signs of spring.

Penalty Shootout!

We measured the corridors around our school to find the longest. The top corridor measured 33 children and half of Mr Rhodes!
