Autumn Term

Welcome to Reception!

We visited reception with one of our parents to become familiar with the setting, meet our teachers and get to know our new friends. We had a lovely morning and some of us even stayed for lunch!
Our First Day

We have been so busy making new friends learning new routines and exploring the EYFS environment. We can't wait to come back tomorrow!
Poetry Basket
As a class we are learning a new poem each week to say out loud together. We take time to discuss each poem, ensuring we all understand the vocabulary within them. Every Friday the children love to take their poetry book home to share the new poem with their family.
Yoga Time!

We enjoyed taking part in a Cosmic Kids Yoga Adventure! We completed the
'Safeguard the Handwashing Soap' program to help us remember the importance of correct handwashing. Can you remember the six moves we have to do? Here is the link if you want to have another go at home:

Let's go fly a kite!

We were challenged to get creative in the Workshop area to make our very own kite. We were really pleased with our finished designs.
All About Me

It was lovely to find out a little more about each child as they began Blakehill. They were so proud to share the contents of their 'All About Me' bag with the class. They were confident to talk about each item and everyone enjoyed looking at the photos, drawings and favourite toys!

Exploring Autumn

The children have loved exploring our outdoor provision and learning about the changes that happen to the environment during Autumn. We have used the natural resources that children have been collecting to create self-portraits, leaf rubbings and observational drawings.

Obstacle Course

Children in RS loved taking part in the obstacle course. They were faced with lots of new and exciting challenges that required them to have a go at using a new skill.
Our self portraits
Our 'All about me' topic provided the children with the opportunity to think about how they look. We have had lots of conversations about the similarities and differences between their appearance and members of their family. Here are the children's self portraits that they have created.

Bonfire Night!

Children in RS have been learning about bonfire night. We challenged them to create a bonfire or firework collage in the Workshop. Below are some of the children’s creations. We used our woodland area to build a pretend bonfire which we sang songs around, shared stories, spoke about firework safety and made sparklers with sticks that they collected.

PE
L.O - To explore a variety of movements with and without an object

In PE we explored different movements by using some of our favourite animals, we then challenge ourselves to carry on moving but whilst balancing objects on our head.
Children in Need
Children in Reception have loved being dressed in spots for Children in Need.
Pudsey Bear visited Reception this afternoon and joined them in provision. He has had a busy day working with the children, learning about 5’s frames, playing hide and seek, collecting twigs for our Christmas craft, building with Lego bricks, sitting around our campfire and learning about why we have Children in Need. He even had a go on the scooter!
RS Christmas Hoop
To decorate the school for christmas each class makes decorations that are hung from hoops on the corridor. Here are RS' decorations made from recycled cardboard tubes.
Exploring WInter
As the weather has started to become colder the children have wrapped up warm and headed outside to explore the seasonal changes and the first signs of winter. We were able to mark make in the frost and after leaving some trays of water outside, the children took part in some exciting ice activities!
