 Maths
LO: To recognise tens and ones
We have been learning about our tens and ones in Maths today. We worked as a class to find the tens and ones in many different numbers and then applied that knowledge into our work. The children loved the challenge!
Maths
LO: To flexibly partition numbers
We have been learning how to flexibly partition numbers in Maths and comparing our answers as a class. The children were thinking about the different ways they could part their whole and worked together when they were stuck.

English
LO: To retrieve and infer information from a text.
We have been reading Flat Stanley in English and today the children were working with their partners to find the answers to different questions from the text. It was lovely to see the children working together to 'trap' the answer in the text and write it into their books. Well done!

Maths
LO: To subtract a 1-digit number from a 2-digit number.
(Not across 10 and from a 10)
We have been learning how to subtract in Maths and the children have been working hard using their tens and ones. We started with subtracting (not across 10) and learnt how to check if a number is a ten or a one. Then we moved onto subtracting from a 10, where the children learnt to exchange. This was a lot harder so we have been practising using our tens and ones resources.
We even had some children that were brave enough to come up to the front of the class and be the teacher!
Well done!

Saltaire Trip
Year 2 have had a very busy day on their trip! They have learnt all about Titus Salt and Saltaire. We even went to Salts Mill and saw all the artwork from David Hockney. We had a lovely day and the rain stopped just in time!

Computing
LO: To know what makes a good photograph
We have been learning about Digital Photography and looking at different types of photographs. The children have been working on their photography skills and have been learning what constitutes good photography composition. They all put this into practise by capturing photos of each other. They really enjoyed discussing what they could do to make their photos better and what went wrong in each one.
Athlete For The Day
Wow, what a busy day! The children worked with Antony Cotterill to complete a fitness circuit. They loved taking part and tried their best with each workout. Well done to all the children taking part, it was amazing to see how hard you worked!

Santa Claus Is Coming To Blakehill
It has been a very exciting day, we have had Santa in to visit all the children today. 2H were thrilled to sing him some of our favourite songs from the Nativity. They even went into the magical grotto to say hello and he gave them all a present!
