Autumn Term

Fabulous first day in 6N! The children were asked to work in teams to create an ‘Egg Rocket’, using just (recycled) paper and tape to protect the egg. Every egg survived the 2.5m drop but there were a few casualties when they crash landed down from 5m!  The children collaborated brilliantly - sharing out the roles, supporting each other, and communicating in a mature manner. A great start!

Maths - working together to order any integers to 10 million.
Science: Year 6 enjoyed setting up a fair test to investigate: does the number of motors affect the power of each motor in a series circuit?
In 6N, we celebrated World Mental Health Day by discussing the ‘5 ways to wellbeing’. The children were very mature about this and came up with some good ideas for promoting a happy, healthy lifestyle. Then we made Fortune Tellers, which were full of ideas for improving our wellbeing, and in turn our mental health.
In PSHE, we collaborated in groups to build our own bridges.  We used the word 'negotiate' to help use make 'mutual' decisions.
6N at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. We had a cracking time and used this trip as inspiration for our DT project, building electronic fairground rides. We also challenged ourselves by going on some of the 'white knuckle' rides.
6N DT: The children have been tasked with creating a fairground rides that turns. They made a detailed plan, then practised different methods of attaching materials to one another to help make a solid structure.  6N are showing great teamwork, skills and resilience to build their rides!
6N DT: The children made fairground rides using junk, electricity and a mechanism to make them turn.  They really enjoyed this project and worked well together. Well done 6N!
The fire service came in to school to talk about fire safety, ahead of Bonfire Night
6N had a great time getting active and meeting Paralympian Antony Cotterill.
6N's crafty Christmas cards!
