Behaviour Curriculum

Blakehill Primary School Behaviour Curriculum
Our school behaviour curriculum and a graduated approach to behaviour management are both designed to create a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment where children can succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

Aims of a School Behaviour Curriculum

A behaviour curriculum teaches pupils the behaviours, routines, and social expectations needed to thrive in school and beyond. Its aims typically include:

  •  Creating a Safe and Positive Environment
  • Teaching Expected Behaviours Explicitly
  • Developing Social and Emotional Skills
  • Promoting Consistency Across the School
  • Encouraging Positive Relationships
  • Supporting Learning and Achievement
  • Preparing Pupils for Life Beyond School

Aims of a Graduated Approach to Behaviour Management

A graduated approach means behaviour support is provided in increasing levels of intervention depending on a child’s needs. The aim is early support rather than punishment alone.

Key Aims

  • Early Identification and Support
  • Inclusive Practice
  • Proportionate and Flexible Responses
  • Understanding Behaviour as Communication
  • Building Self-Regulation
  • Using Evidence-Based Interventions
  • Strengthening Multi-Agency Collaboration
  • Reducing Exclusions and Serious Incidents
