Autumn Term

Welcome to Blakehill Primary School. 
Autumn Term 2026
The children are all invited into school this week to spend their first morning at Blakehill. Children are coming into RD in groups of ten to allow us to spend lots of time with each child and get to know them really well. Parents are welcome to join us for the first part of the morning to support their child in making their own peg label, magic wand and mini person for our display. After that parents can say goodbye so that the children have some time to explore independently. At lunchtime parents are invited back to join us for a delicious school dinner in the hall. 
 
The second intake of children came into school today. They had lots of fun exploring our classroom independently. We are looking forward to you starting with us next Monday. 
Our third and final intake arrived in school this morning. Now we have met you all, we are very excited to welcome you into school all together on Monday. 
We are now all in school and our classroom is full of children and learning once again. 
This week we have been learning about feelings and emotions. The children have been listening to the story of the Colour Monster. In  the story emotions and feelings are linked to colours. It works like this in school too. In our school we use the Zones of regulation to understand our emotions.

Phonics- Today we had our first phonics lesson. We learned the 's' phoneme. We had a go at forming the 's' grapheme. 
We enjoyed singing with Mr Graham today. He played his guitar and the children sang Row Row Row your Boat beautifully all together. 
We went on a listening walk around our school. We listened for sounds in our environment.
