Swimming at Blakehill Primary School
Pupils at Blakehill Primary School learn to swim in Year 4. All of the children are provided with specialist small group teaching to help them reach the nationally expected level of 25 metres. Children are taught a number of different strokes and given opportunities to become proficient in these strokes throughout their time in Year 4.

Of the children in our current year 6:
91% of children are able to swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of least 25 metres.  
91% of children are able to use a range of strokes efficiently. 
67% of children are able to perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.
