PE and Sports Premium Funding in Primary Schools

SPORTS PREMIUM FUNDING

Schools receive PE and sport premium funding based on the number of pupils they have in years 1 to 6. In cases where schools may not have set year groups (for example, in some special schools), pupils aged 5 to 10 attract the funding.

Blakehill Primary School was allocated £19,950 for 2025/6.

At Blakehill Primary, we recognise the significant contribution of PE to the health and well-being of all children. In addition, we believe that an innovative and varied PE curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities to have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of all children.

Purpose (conditions of Sports Premium 2025/26)

The purpose of the premium is for schools to make additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE and sport for the benefit of all primary-aged pupils to encourage the development of healthy, active lifestyles.

This means schools must use the premium to:

  • build capacity and capability within the school and ensure that improvements to the quality of PE, sport and physical activity provision made now are sustainable and will benefit pupils joining the school in future years; and
  • develop or add to the PE, sport and physical activity that the school provides

Use of the funding at Blakehill Primary

The money is used to benefit all children regardless of their sporting ability. We continue to place a high priority on our PE provision and have invested in additional staffing and resources to further enhance the PE curriculum, our offer to the children at Blakehill and promote a healthy and active lifestyle for all.

We are committed to further improving our sports provision and as such, we monitor the impact this funding has in our school very closely. Should you have any suggestions/comments to make or indeed have skills and knowledge that would be valuable to our children, please feel free to contact the school.
