Important Information
Hygiene Routines
As a result of Covid-19, we will be following government guidance to keep pupils and adults as safe as possible in school. This will include: staggered start and end times; virtual assemblies; pupils remaining in year group bubbles and pupils being reminded to wash and sanitise their hands regularly.

1G Start and Finish Time

It is important that pupils arrive at school on time and we would ask that all pupils in Year 1 are in the KS1 playground and ready to come into school at 8.50am. Please bear with us at the end of the day, 3:20pm, as we see pupils out. Please also let us know if your child is being collected by a different adult or is attending extra club.

Please see ‘A Guide for Parents’, sent via email by Mrs. Keighley, for more information regarding the arrangements for Year 1 drop offs and pick ups.

Reading Books

Children all have a reading diary and reading book which comes home in their book bag each day. We encourage children to read at home each night. When your child has read at home can you sign and date their diary and write a comment so that we know how they are finding their reading at home. When children have had their diary signed at home they receive a sticker in school which they can then put onto their reading sticker chart.  When 35 stickers have been collected children will receive a certificate in assembly.

KIRFs

Your child will be tested on their KIRFs (Key Instant Recall Facts) on a weekly basis by an adult in class. Each week they must learn mental maths skills at home and know these off by heart. They will be tested every week and they must get them all right in order to move onto the next level.

Word Mountains

Your child will be tested on their word mountains each week in class. Each week they must learn their word mountains at home and be able to get them all right in order to move up on to the next word mountain.

PE

Outdoor PE takes place every Thursday morning. Children will need long jogging bottoms, a white PE T-shirt and a warm black or blue jumper to keep them warm in the winter months. Children will also need suitable trainers too. Their PE kit should be in school at all times.

Indoor PE takes place every Monday Morning. Children will need black or navy shorts and a white T-shirt.

Please note: Your child will need to come to school dressed in their PE kit on Mondays and Thursdays. They will stay in their PE all day.

Library Time

We have an allocated time to visit our school library every week. Our session is Friday afternoons. Children will have the opportunity to visit the school library every week and select a book to take home and return the following Friday. We will share stories together and take part in lots of book talk.

Parent Reading Session (Currently postponed due to covid)

Every Thursday morning at 8:30am we open our Year 1 doors and welcome parents/carers to take part in a reading session. You can sit down together at your table and share a lovely book together whilst listening to some instrumental music. A great way to start the school day!
