## Year 4 Home Learning 13.7.20

Hello again to all our Year 4 children, parents and carers!

This is the last week of home learning this academic year!

Please find below this week's home learning tasks for you to download and complete. In addition to the work set, we do expect that the children will read everyday and practice their times tables as much as possible on TT Rockstars.

If you are having any issues accessing the work online, please contact the school office to photocopy you an alternative work pack that does not require internet access.

As always, if you would like to ask a question or discuss any of the tasks that have been set, please contact either of us on E-schools or through email to the school office and we we will contact you as soon as possible.  The children also have their own sign in details for E-schools and are able to contact us themselves should they wish to.

The below PDF is a resource you may find helpful to support home learning.

Take care everyone. Don’t forget to send us your photos!

Miss Philip and Mr Hodges.

As we have finished The Switcher, you can choose a new book on Serial Mash to work through.

These are differentiated by ability.
* mild challenge
** medium challenge
*** hot challenge

1) try to summarise the whole text/chapter of what you have read in a small amount of words such as 15
2) Try to find links to other books and make comparison.
e.g  This books is about a hero going on a journey. This is the same as Arthur and the Golden rope.
3) You can write reading questions for friend/family member or teacher to have a go at. By doing this it demonstrates a strong understanding of the text as well as the different style of reading questions such as retrieval, inference and vocabulary.

E.g  What word is closest in meaning to marvelous
happy          good         interesting      brilliant
English

As it is the last week of home learning, feel free to choose tasks that you want to do. There will be a few writing tasks and sheets for you to choose from. While children should be encouraged to write in full sentences, if they prefer to present their work as a poster or using technology, that is fine.

Option 1 - What is it like in Year 4?         Write an explanation text for Year 3 children that explains what it is like being in Year 4. Think about what you do, what you need to practise and how it is different to Year 3.

Option 2 - Letter to your new teacher. If you haven't already, write a letter to your knew teacher to tell them all about yourself and what you have been up since school closed. You can use the transition booklet below to help you.

Option 3 - Pick something you feel you are good at. This could be baking, knowing your Times Tables, a sport, reading or anything you can think of. Produce a piece of writing that explains what it is and why you like it as well as top tips/ instructions for how to improve.

We would love to see any work you produce in your final week of Year 4 so please feel free to send it in.

Below are full booklets to focus on the use of pronouns, fronted adverbs, setting descriptions and up levelling (improving) sentences.
