Welcome

Welcome to 4P

Key Information

PE
Outdoor PE takes place every Monday afternoon.  Children are required to wear long jogging bottoms, a white PE T-shirt and a warm black or blue jumper to keep them warm in the winter months. Children will also need to wear suitable trainers.  PE kits should be in school at all times.

Indoor PE for the first half of the year, will take place on a Thursday morning. Children are required to wear blue shorts, a white PE T-shirt and black PE pumps.

Swimming will take place for the second half of the year for 4P. Children will need to bring a suitable swimming costume/shorts and a towel. Children will also need to bring a piece of fruit to eat during the short journey back to school. Swimming will commence on the 13th February and continue until the end of the year.

Homework in LKS2, children are required to complete their homework. This involves practicing their spellings, KIRFs and reading. An optional homework project will also be set reflecting children's topic learning in school. The children have been provided with a homework book to help them practice which will be checked weekly.

Spellings will be set and tested every week. These will be linked to in class spelling learning. A new spelling list will be sent home every week for children to learn regardless of their score the previous week. This will give all children the opportunity to practice a range of spelling rules. Spelling rules will be recapped through the year.

KIRFS are key facts that your child will need to know as part of the Year 4 maths curriculum. They will be tested weekly on a Monday and Friday.

Reading Children are asked to read at home daily for 20 minutes. Your child's home reading record will be checked everyday in school and given the opportunity to change their books. Children will receive a sticker for their reading chart if they have read at home to an adult.

Times Tables are a key aspect of Year 4. All children in Year 4 will complete an online test during the Summer term which will be submitted to the Government. This test will assess the quick recall of multiplication facts up 10 12 x 12. To support your child in becoming fluent in their recall, please practice as often as possible at home.  TT Rockstars is a fantastic resource, which can be accessed either through their app or online. The Soundcheck game is very similar to the test that they will be taking.
