The Blakehill PTFA is a group of parents, teachers and friends of the school, who meet informally in the school staffroom, usually once a month.

We raise money to support school in making our children’s school lives better, and enhance their learning.  In the past some of the things we have helped school with is raising enough money to ensure every classroom has an interactive white board, a set of 16 iPads, developing the outdoor play provision, books for guided Reading adn for the school library, subsidising school trips, providing a present for every child when they leave the school in year 6 and we provided the lighting equipment for the school drama club.

We hold a school disco every term, a Christmas fair and a Summer fair.  We usually run a Mother's Day shop, a Father's Day shop and have in the past held a fashion show and we have run a school Christmas post office.

Some of our past events include the Christmas fair which raised over £1200, the school disco which raised over £600, the Xmas bauble competition and the Christmas quiz.

All these events require a lot of planning, and any time that you think you may be able to spare, would be greatly appreciated.  At Christmas parents helped to wrap the Santa presents for the children, the gifts for the surprise gift shop, they provided homemade baking for the fair and donated tombola items etc. Parents helped to run the stalls during the fair, or helped to sell sweets and crisps at the school disco.

Although being a PTFA member does mean giving up some of your precious spare time, it is a great way to meet other parents, teachers and support your child during their time at Blakehill, it can also be a lot of fun!
