Summer Term - our learning journey so far...
This half term we are learning all about 'Under the Sea.'
During a circle time we discussed who had been to the seaside. We thought about the following questions:
Where did you go?
How did you get there?
What did you see?
Were their any animals?
Was the water warm or cold?
Miss Gardner then showed us the globe. She showed us the different places we have visited on the map.
During a phonics lesson we shared a book called 'Fantastic Fish'. It was a non-fiction books full of facts about fish. Miss Gardner asked us to read a page each. She then asked us some questions about the book we read. We learnt lots of new facts about fish. Some of us even went away to write a fact during free flow too!
During a phonics lesson we played countdown in a group of 2 or 3. Our task was to read as many CVCC words or 2 syllable words in 30 seconds. We worked as a group and tried to beat our score each time. We had a lot of fun!
The Queen's Birthday
To celebrate The Queen's Birthday we had an afternoon tea party on the field with the sunshine shining too! We decorated party hats and had scones, jam and squirty cream as a treat. We learnt knew facts about The Queen in the classroom too. To finish off our tea party The Queen even came to visit us!
This half term we have been going in to the computer suite. We have being learning how to logon to the computer with our own user names and passwords. We have been learning how to control a mouse with our hand
Miss Gardner asked us to use find '2paintapicture' program on the computer. She then asked us to draw a picture of ourselves.
On our second computing lesson she asked us to create our own picture of animals that live under the sea.
Do you like them?
We have been very busy learning all about 'Under the sea'. Have a look what we have been up to!
Miss Gardner went shopping and bought a variety of fish from the Fish Mongers. We discussed facts about the fish and about how they survive in water. Mrs Brook showed us the tongues and explained that they had sharp teeth on their tongues. We then had a go at drawing them using the pastels. We learnt how to blend the pastels and we were shown how to use the flat side of the pastels too.
We really enjoyed this activity but they were a very smelly!

For our morning task Miss Gardner asked us to write down our favourite under the sea animals. She asked us to explain why that animal was our favourite. We used our phonics to help us write.
Our Under the Sea Models
For our learning log challenge Miss Gardner asked us to create our very own under the sea models. We did this with our grown ups at home. Miss Gardner was very impressed with us.
