Summer 2 Home Learning w/c: 22nd June 2020

Hello again!
These weeks seem to be flying along now and I can not believe there are only four weeks left for you in year one with me! I really wish our year had not ended like this for us all but most importantly I am so pleased that you are all keeping safe and well.
I hope you have had a lovely weekend and for those of you that have been celebrating Father's Day, I hope you have made the day special for your Dad, Grandad and any other special men in your lives.
I went for a walk on Saturday to Saltaire and along the canal where I bumped into Charlie who was walking with his family in the opposite direction!

SPAG - Adding the prefix -un

We are going to look at the prefix -un
A prefix goes at the beginning of a word to change its meaning.
Example: kind
                 unkind

By adding this prefix -un we have changed the meaning of the word. It now means the opposite.

Can you change the following words by putting the prefix 'un' infront of it.

Write two sentences.
e.g The girl is kind and caring.
The wicked witch is an unkind character.

1) lucky
2) fair
3) happy
4) healthy
5) zip
6) pack
7) cover

There is an attachment below of another task if you would like something more visual.
  • Cut out the pictures.
  • Match the root word with the prefix
  • Write a sentence about them both

(Remember your capital letters and full stops.)
Science -  Living things and their habitats

Now you are familiar with some different animal groups here is another activity. The activity below is an activity linking to commotion in the ocean.

You need to sort the animals into the group that they belong in

Can you get them all correct?
How do you know they belong in a certain group?
