Spring Term - Our Science Learning
The children have been role playing in their classrooms and they have been discussing the different seasons.
Take a look at their fantastic writing too!
Year 2 have been very busy in science this half term. The children observed and described how seeds and bulbs grow into mature plants. They discovered and experimented how plants need water, light and a suitable temperature to grow and stay healthy. They have enjoyed working scientifically and gained first hand experience in ensuring their plants grow. The children carried out an experiment and place plants in different locations. They discussed and observed what they saw and discovered what a plant needs to grow.
The children have loved learning about light and shadow! They have recognised that shadows are formed when the light from a light source is blocked by a solid object.
Forces and Magnets
Children worked scientifically by carrying out tests to find out how far things move on different surfaces and gathering and recording data to find answers their questions. They explored the strengths of different magnets.
The experimented with different types of surfaces to see if it affected how fast an object moved.
