RE Spirituality
We have been exploring the concept of spirituality in religions and how they explore this. We have explored how religions use words, art, music and dance to do this.
PE: OAA: Teamwork
Our new PE unit is Outdoor Adventurous Activities and we are focusing on the skill of teamwork. We are learning that it is a difficult skill with lots of different elements. Have a look at how we are developing these skills of communication, listening to others and sharing our ideas.
Science: Forces
We have been exploring forces and developing our scientific skills. We have been doing lots of hands on learning in order to understand the forces involved in movement and magnets. We have been developing our learning of how to observe, groups, sort, measure and plan. We have then worked together using our oracy skills to help us notice patterns, analyse results and draw hypothesis or conclusions.
Computing: Media
As part of our computing media unit, we explore the app StopMotion and learnt that we could make an animation by sequencing frames. we used this to create our own animations.
English: Ironman: Newsreports
We have been reading Ironman in class and have been learning how to write a newsreport to tell people all about the Ironman and Space Bat Angle dragon. We found the switch to a formal, factual tone and had to practise to not write a narrative. We persevered and were very proud of our outcomes.
Maths; Multiplication and Division
In maths we have been exploring the concepts of multiplication and division. We learnt the hard concept that division can be sharing or grouping. We used lots of concrete resources, practical work drawing our arrays and bar models on the table and peer talk to help us build this understanding.
Spellings
We spend time every week exploring our spellings an making sure we learn and understand the well in order to be well armed to use them in our writing. We make sure we know what a word means, practise how to spell it accurately and then practise using it in context. We use games to help us make this learning fun.
English: Dinosaur Cove
In English we are reading the adventure Dinosaur Cove. We are using oracy and drama to help us explore this book as well as developing our written grammar skills.
Number Week
To celebrate NPCC's number week, we explored statistics learning. We completed fieldwork around our school grounds to explore how much we impact the local environment and habitats. We completed surveys, tally charts and bar charts to explore the vegetation we could find around our school.
