Smart Reading

Smart Reading
This year we have introduced 'Smart Reading' to our pupils in Early Years and Key Stage 1at Blakehill and it has proved to be very popular!

Children work in small groups with quality first teaching delivered by Teachers and Teaching Assistants to ensure they make good progress in the decoding of words, develop and strengthen their comprehension skills and fluency by the end of Key Stage One.

Children are engaged and excited to learn, read and grow in confidence when reading within small groups with familiar activities.

Children take part in three short fifteen minute sessions throughout the week with a familiar adult. They focus on one book and become increasingly confident with the text as the week progresses. During the week children practise and refine their reading skills.
