On behalf of all staff, governors and our children, I would like to welcome you to our wonderful school.
I am proud to lead a school where the children are central to everything we think and do and the staff are uncompromising in their ambition to provide our pupils with the skills and knowledge they will need to lead successful and happy future lives.
Our school Mission Statement is:
‘ Together We Can’
This is paramount to the ethos of Blakehill Primary School where everyone shares the commitment of promoting the safeguarding, well-being and achievement of all our children.
We are a two-form entry school that provides and values positivity, achievement and teamwork. We create an exciting curriculum with an extensive range of learning opportunities, all of which makes Blakehill a fantastic place to work and learn.
Our recent Ofsted Inspection in February 2019 recognised:
Highly effective teaching practice… now typical within the school.
A focus on teamwork is evident in all aspects of the school and encapsulated in the school’s motto, ‘together we can’. For example, pupils are adept at supporting one another in lessons.
A focus on working together to achieve high standards has created an atmosphere in which all members of the school community strive to be the best they can be.
Pupils’ emotional and social development is given high priority. This is reflected in the strong relationships which exist between staff and pupils.
The emphasis on making learning both fun and challenging was reflected in all lessons observed during the inspection and is clear in work in pupils’ books over time. Pupils work hard and demonstrate consistently positive attitudes to learning.
As a result of high-quality teaching, by the end of key stage 2, pupils’ outcomes are significantly above the national average for reading, writing and mathematics.
We provide a quality of education that allows all children at Blakehill equal opportunities to enjoy and excel across a broad and balanced curriculum. We are passionate about forging strong partnerships between home and school and pride ourselves on listening to the views of our children and their parents.
We look forward to working with you and your child.
Mrs L Keighley
