Design and Technology at Blakehill

Design and Technology at Blakehill

All children are taught Design and Technology throughout the school and this is often linked with other topics children are learning about within the curriculum. Teaching and learning is linked with the National Curriculum objectives.

National Curriculum objectives are covered from year 1-6 and work is displayed through photographs and written work in their topic books. Some classes will also show learning in their floor books too.

Textile Week

Once a year we hold a Textile Week at Blakehill. During this week children focus on developing their textiles skills. Each year group complete a chirstmas decoration or card to take home at the end of the unit. They recap previous skills taught and progress learning new skills.

Reception begin with simple threading/running stitch and year 6 employ a seam allowance. Every child produces their own decoration or card to take home for christmas!

Extra-curricular clubs

The pupils at Blakehill are given the opportunity to attend after school design and technology clubs throughout the year.  The club will focus on the one aspect of design and technology.
