Our class author in year 5 is Robert Swindells. We used the iPads to research him and write down some facts. We then put these facts up in our reading area in the classroom.
We have been learning all about democracy. We learnt about the rule of law in Britain and how different people can have a say in how our country is run. We wrote our own manifestos and read them to the class. We then had a secret vote to decide who we would elect as our class councillor. We chose Angel!
We started our geography learning this half term by finding out about different counties in England. We used the atlases to identify the different counties and match them to our blank map.
We have been working on our team working skills in PE. We have been been throwing and catching and have moved on to learn how to play badminton with Mr Simmons.
We have been studying maps of Idle and Clapham and looking at similarities and differences. We looked at the land use and noticed the difference between a rural town and an urban one. We can't wait to visit Clapham and see what it is like in real life!
We went on a 5 day residential to Clapham in North Yorkshire. We were comparing Clapham to Idle and finding similarities and differences between the two localities. Whilst we were there we took part in lots of activities: a long walk, caving, gorge scrambling, problem solving, archery and a village study. We had such a fun week even though it was very wet!
