Autumn Term

Our first day in 2P! We worked really hard today on our self-portraits, recreating what we observed in the mirror, using pastels. Mrs Pinder and Mrs Pedley were really impressed with our fabulous artwork!
Today in 2P we brought in things from home that are precious to us. We talked about why they are so special and described them in words and pictures. We all had different reasons why our things are so precious to us.
We enjoyed our first library session and found out how to use the library and look after the books. We all chose a book to borrow and take home. Tuesday is our library day.
In Outdoor PE we have been doing Athletics with Miss Dobson. We have been practising our running techniques and then using them to race against each other as fast as we can!
In Indoor PE we have been working with Mrs Marsden in Gymnastics on the six key gymnastic positions. Can you spot the star, pike, tuck, dish, straight and arch?
We had lots of fun in Saltaire today, finding out about the life and work of Sir Titus Salt. We had a guided tour of the village in the morning and after lunch did some fabulous observational drawings!
We had a fabulous morning at the Bible Times Exhibition at St Cuthbert's Church. We found out all about the Bible and other things that are special for Christians.
October is Black History Month and we really enjoyed our visit from the Zulu Warriors to start our whole school topic. We enjoyed the a fabulous performance of song and dance, all the way from South Africa. We then had chance to join in with some dancing ourselves, even the teachers had a dance!
As part of our work on Saltaire, we made these brilliant collages of Sir Titus Salt in art. We worked with a partner to tear up different coloured paper and put them together to make a portrait with a difference!
2P have been finding out all about precious things in Judaism. We wrote about and drew the Torah, yad, kippah, menorah and tallit. Lots of new words for us to learn!
We had lots of fun doing the Sponsored Obstacle Course and kept ourselves fit too!

This half-term in Computing we have been working hard on our media skills. We have been changing the style, size and colour of our font.We have also been saving and opening our work and re-sizing our pictures.

We enjoyed our visit to Eccleshill Cenotaph, as part of our work on Remembrance. We laid a wreath to show our respect and gratitude to all those who have fought for our country.
Children in Need Day in 2P! We dressed in yellow or dots and brought in a donation to help children less lucky than ourselves.
This week in 2P we have been scientists! As part of our work on the uses of materials we have been investigating which materials are the strongest, using the 'rip test.' We also tested which materials were waterproof and then designed, made and evaluated hats for our toys.
In PHSE we talked about how bullying is when one person hurts another with their words or actions purposefully and repetitively. We worked as a group to talk about different scenarios and decide whether they were examples of bullying or not. We wrote about this in our topic books and described the different types of bullying and talked about how we would deal with being bullied.
We have enjoyed our Geography Fieldwork Study, where we found out about physical and human features in the school environment.

We really enjoyed our fantastic KS1 Christmas Production 'I'm Gonna Shine.'
We have been working really hard at home on our Remembrance Homework Projects and we are really proud of all our models, artwork and writing. Well done to everyone who handed in a project and especially to Sid and Coben, our prize winners!
